Kitchen

Creating your dream kitchen is the perfect way to upgrade your home and add more value to your property. However, kitchen remodeling can also be a source of stress, particularly if you’re typically accustomed to spending a lot of time in the space. To help take the stress out of your next home renovation project, we have provided a useful guide to surviving your kitchen remodeling.

Guide to Surviving a Kitchen Remodeling

1. Pack Away Dishes & Small Appliances

Before the start of your kitchen remodeling project, you’ll want to clear your space of any dishes and small appliances, such as your coffee maker, toaster, and microwave. Your best bet is to carefully store them out of harm’s way, but be sure to properly label everything in bins or boxes so that you know where everything is when you need it again.

2. Create a Temporary Makeshift Kitchen

During the remodeling project, it’s helpful to assign a designated area that will serve as your makeshift kitchen for the time being. This is a spot where you can quickly heat up a frozen dinner, plug in your slow cooker, and store some food items. Although it won’t be the most comfortable setup, it’s only temporary, and you might find that it’s nice having the ability to at least prepare small items.

3. Simplify Meal Planning

You won’t have the luxury of major appliances during your kitchen remodeling, so it’s helpful to plan ahead. Brainstorm some simple meals you can put together with your smaller appliances. If that starts to become too complicated, you can always opt for some freezer meals or do carryout if cooking is too much of a hassle.

4. Leave the Premises

If all else fails and you can’t function in a house without a working kitchen, sometimes the best thing to do is remove yourself from the situation. Try booking a brief getaway, spend a few days at a friend’s house, or take a fun camping trip. You’ll come back more refreshed and be excited to see the progress of your kitchen, as opposed to feeling frustrated with the inconvenience of it all.
