Now that you’ve made the decision to build a house and have chosen your home builders, you’ll want to ask them some important questions. Your new home is going to be your haven, so you want to ensure you understand the entire construction so you know what to expect. If you’re not sure where to begin, read on for a few general questions everyone should ask.

4 Great Questions for Your Home Builders

How Much Will It Cost?

This is probably one of the most important questions, especially if you are on a budget. Prices can fluctuate due to a number of factors, including the floor plans you choose, the features you have added, and, of course, where your new home is located. Once the design is complete, you and your home builder can discuss estimates.

How Long Will It Take?

There is no definitive time frame, but many home builders take at least six months or more to construct a house. Factors like building permits, design, and changes can affect the duration of the project. In most cases, a more reliable time frame can be determined once the work begins, but since there’s no guarantee, be prepared for changes.

What Can I Expect During the Building Process?

Generally, most construction projects are completed in three simple steps. The first includes the initial consultation and discussion of your design needs. You’ll talk about floor plans, window placement, and special features you may want. Then, your home builder will create a 3D model of your project and review it with you. The last step is the final consultation, where you’ll review your project estimate and other documentation. After that, the actual construction will begin.

Can I Visit My Home While It’s Being Built?

Home builders understand you’re excited to see what progress their making, but safety must be a top priority. In light of this, it’s best not to drop by unannounced. Instead, let the site manager know you’d like to visit, and they’ll arrange a time for you to safely enter the property.
